Hello to all our friends across the globe, and welcome to the August edition of the Wind&Bones Books newsletter. This month, we thought we'd start off with some news and updates on our location.

From this month, we will be spending a bit more time based back in the UK. Initially, Hannah will be taking care of our operations in the UK, with Will continuing his work in Taiwan until January. Over the past year, we’ve been extending our work with Wind&Bones books—we’re now proud members of Publishing Scotland, and we’ve been working hard on expanding our distribution both in the UK and internationally. So one reason we’re moving our base back to the UK is to continue further developing our publishing arm.

We have been based mainly full-time in Taiwan for the past three years, and WOW, what an amazing three years it has been. We've lost count of the lectures we've delivered on writing, storytelling, social change and publishing at universities across the country. We have also run countless community writing and philosophy events, and met hundreds of inspiring and creative people along the way.

In Taiwan, we've also completed not one, but TWO writing residencies, and we've also edited and published THREE books in that time. TÂIGAEL: STORIES FROM TAIWANESE & GAELIC (https://books.windandbones.com/product/taigael), Hilda Hoy's MOTHER TONGUE (https://books.windandbones.com/product/mother-tongue) and Hannah Stevens' ON THE BODIES OF STRANGERS (https://books.windandbones.com/product/on-the-bodies-of-strangers).

We've also had our work featured in the national press by Taiwan Plus News (https://www.windandbones.com/posts/taiwan-plus-01/), Radio Taiwan International (https://www.windandbones.com/posts/in-taiwan-we-speak/) and Talent Taiwan's Made It In Taiwan series (https://talent.nat.gov.tw/en/made-it-in-taiwan/finding-a-creative-home-in-taiwan-hannah-stevens-and-the-spirit-of-windbones).

In addition, Will has been involved in various translation projects including with the Books from Taiwan initiative, from the Taiwanese Ministry of Culture. Throughout all of this we've been working on both individual and joint writing projects... so it's safe to say that it has been an extremely busy time and one that we are incredibly grateful for.

Even though we plan to be based back in the UK and to be working with existing and new connections across Europe, that doesn't mean we're leaving Taiwan behind. We'll be continuing work on writing, book promotion, new books (more coming soon!) translation and other projects. And we’re intending to keep on spending time working on projects in Taiwan long into the future. So, Taiwan friends: keep your eyes peeled.

We are super-excited for this next chapter and if anyone has any ideas for collaborations across the UK, Europe, Taiwan, and elsewhere, please let us know! We are always open to fun projects, lectures, talks and more besides. You can get us on [email protected]
